Google Password Manager unveiled several updates to its service on Thursday to unify the device user experience.
According to Ali Sarraf, product manager for Google Chrome, the changes focus on a “simplified and unified Google Password Manager experience that is the same for all Chrome and Android settings.
The updates should also offer a feature that allows users to manually add passwords and automatically aggregate numerous passwords for the same websites. In addition, Android users may now put a shortcut to Password Manager on their home screen, despite Google’s apparent inability to release it as a standalone app.
Google Password Manager and Cyber Security
In a related update, Password Manager now offers the option to create one-of-a-kind, secure passwords for iOS users who choose Chrome as their default autofill provider.
Android’s built-in Password Checkup function is also getting an upgrade.
Along with looking for compromised credentials, it may also point out weak and frequently used passwords, similar to Apple iOS. In addition, Google is extending the compromised password warnings to all operating system users of Chrome.
Last but not least, Google is introducing “Touch-to-Login,” in Chrome for Android, a new feature that enables users to sign in to websites with a single tap after inputting their credentials with autofill. It’s important to note that Apple added a comparable function to Safari with iOS 12.2.
